Scoliosis Physiotherapy at The Heal Hut
Specialist rehabilitation for spinal curve management and post-operative recovery
π― Specialist Physiotherapy for Spinal Curvature
Scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional spinal condition involving curvature and rotation of the vertebrae. It can affect adolescents during periods of rapid growth (idiopathic scoliosis), or present in adults due to age-related degeneration. While surgical intervention is sometimes necessary, many individuals benefit from structured physiotherapy β whether managing a curve conservatively or recovering from spinal fusion surgery.
At The Heal Hut, our scoliosis service is led by spinal specialist physiotherapists with extensive experience in treating scoliosis patients daily in their roles held in the central London Bolsover clinic for the royal national orthopaedic hospital. We support patients after hospital discharge and those managing their scoliosis conservatively, delivering personalised, clinically grounded care through virtual 1:1 virtual sessions.
π₯ Who We Work With
We provide expert rehabilitation for:
π§ Conservative (Non-Surgical) Management
For those whose choose not to have surgery as a personal choice or their Cobb angle does not meet the criteria for surgery, physiotherapy offers valuable support in:
Our treatment approach integrates recognised scoliosis-specific methods and follows best practice guidance from international experts (e.g. SOSORT).
π₯ Post-Operative Scoliosis Rehabilitation
For patients cleared for outpatient rehab (typically 6β8 weeks post-op)
We support patients following surgical discharge β including those recovering from posterior spinal fusion, growth rod insertion, or corrective procedures. Once safe to mobilise independently, we provide:
We do not provide early-stage inpatient care (e.g. log-rolling, catheter care). Instead, our role begins once youβre mobile, home, and ready to begin rehabilitation safely.
βοΈ Functional Goals
